Read for 2014!

Hi everyone!

We had quite a fun day today!  We celebrated the upcoming new year by reading for 2014 seconds!  We were put in different groups based on what kind of books we wanted to listen to.  Then some parent volunteers read to the groups in the Media Center.  After we finished reading for 2014 seconds, we did a silent cheer to celebrate all the reading we did!  It was awesome!  Thanks to the parents who volunteered to read.  We couldn't have done this without you!

Just a few reminders about next week...
  • The tradition note cards are due on Monday!  Please make sure those are in your child's folder.  We are doing a project with them and I can't do the project until all of them are collected.
  • There are no new spelling words for next week.  If you'd like to practice spelling words, take some off of the previous lists to help your child retain the previously taught spelling skills.
  • We will be taking our reading assessment next week, which means your child will be assessed on their ability to read the high frequency words from Unit 2.  I sent home a list of all the words they'll be tested on yesterday on yellow paper.  PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. (if you lost the sheet- I've listed them in the spelling corner section of the blog.)
Here are some pictures from the big event today!
