Hello First Grade Parents!
We had a great start to our week! Today we completed our Children's Progress Testing in the Computer Lab. The students did a wonderful job! I'm very proud of them :)
Since it is assessment week, we do not have new spelling words. We will start fresh next week. I did assess all the children on their story words and each child read ALL the words correctly! WOW! I was very impressed! We will begin the reading test tomorrow and should be done with it by Thursday.
I sent some homework home today for reading that is due by Friday. Please look over the note carefully and let me know if you have any questions. This should be completed with your child and it may take more than one day to complete. If you run out of room on the organizer, please feel free to use the back or attach another sheet of paper! Thanks so much for your help in this!
We started our unit on Geometry today and the students are very excited to work with shapes. They did a great job today and I can't wait to see how they do with the rest of the unit.
We will visit the book fair tomorrow during Library, so make sure to check your child's folder for their wish list. We will have a chance to buy on Wednesday, but you can also buy on Thursday at Celebration of Learning.
Speaking of Celebration of Learning, I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday evening at 6:30 to celebrate all the hard work we have done this year. The children are really excited about showing off their projects and work! I hope you can all make it!
I also appreciate all of you and the amazing amount of support many of you have shown during this tough time in our district. It really makes me proud to be a part of an amazing community that can come together in this time of need. Itasca is really one of a kind! All of us teachers feel the love and support you have for your children, their schools and us educators. Thank you isn't even close to enough to say to express my gratitude. You are the best!
