A few quick updates....
I changed the homework from Math to Reading today since the students had a good grasp on the math concept today. Tomorrow's concept will be a bit more difficult, so I decided they would need a bit more reinforcement of that concept through their homework.
The students brought home a few new things in their folders today. The first thing is the "Batty for Books" packet. This is a reading incentive program designed to promote reading at home. Every night your child reads a book at home, they can fill out a bat. Those bats can be brought to school and will be put on a bulletin board. Once your child reads 10 books, they will receive a small prize and a certificate to display on his or her locker.
A few reminders for the reading incentive program:
- The students are limited to bringing ONE bat in per day (even for the weekends). If they bring in more than one, only one will be put up at a time.
- If your child is not yet a reader, they can have a book read to them instead.
- If your child is reading chapter books, they may fill out a bat for each chapter(s) read each night.
- If your child brings home a guided reading book or a book from Project Prevent, that can count towards a bat!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
Have a great day!
Ms. Petrucci
