It's been awhile.....

....Sorry!!!!

It's been a little busy over here with the Halloween Party and report cards coming out, so I apologize for my lack of posting!!

With that being said... a lot of new things are happening in first grade now that we've completed our first quarter.

Students are now expected to be working much more independently.  We are writing 3 or more sentences in our journal, working on writing all of our letters and numbers the correct way, and even doing timed addition tests!  We have also started doing sentence dictation on our spelling tests.  Those sentences are on the back of the test, so please be sure to check the back when you receive that test on Monday.

Students brought home report cards today.  Please be sure to review the report card with your child over the weekend.  On Monday, please send ONLY the SIGNED envelope back to school with your child.  You can keep all the papers inside at your house.  Thank you!  I look forward to discussing your child's report card with you at our scheduled parent/teacher conference.

As I said before, second quarter brings a lot of new aspects to first grade.  The spelling words are more challenging, the stories are increasing in difficulty and the expectations are higher.  Please continue to work with your child at home every day.

I appreciate all the work you do to make sure your child experiences success in school.  Keep up the good work and have a great weekend!

:) Ms. Petrucci

PS- pictures from the Halloween party are coming soon!
