Hello!
The students visited the book fair today during library time. They will have the opportunity to buy books tomorrow afternoon if they bring money. Please make sure you include tax if you send money with your child. Check out their book fair wish list to see what they included! There are some pretty great books in the fair this year. You can also check out the book fair during Curriculum Night on Thursday.
We started a new unit in Math yesterday. It's all about addition and subtraction strategies. The students are doing a great job remembering to use the strategies they have been learning!
We are reading the story "Sam and the Bag" this week. I forgot to send home the blue story word cards today. They will get them tomorrow! We are focusing on the comprehension strategy of predicting outcomes. This can be practiced at home during a read aloud. Have your child predict which event will come next before you turn a page based on what's happened so far in the story. It's like being a reading detective!
Keep practicing those spelling words! I'm hoping we can all get a 10/10 this week!
In Health we began talking about feelings. We will read different scenarios and talk about how that would make us feel. So far the students have discussed what makes them happy and sad. We will continue to talk about other feelings as the week goes on.
Remember... Curriculum Night is on Thursday evening! I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there and getting to meet those of you I haven't met yet.
I hope you all are having a wonderful week! :)
Ms. Petrucci
